Sabina and Roman Polnar are deeply rooted in their Jewish heritage and committed to strengthening the community that supported their families’ immigrant journeys. They are one of the only married couples to serve on Hebrew Free Loan’s Board of Directors at the same time. Sabina joined our board in 2015. She chairs our Audit Committee and participates on several other key committees. Roman became a board member in 2017 and is currently our Second Vice President. Both arrived in the Bay Area with their families as children: Roman from Moscow and Sabina from Latvia. In addition to having full-time careers and a host of volunteer commitments, they are the proud parents of three wonderful children: Ellie, Zev, and Gabriel.
Sabina works as Director of Pricing and Credit at Arm, Inc., a tech company that designs foundational blocks used to help AI operate efficiently. She is a graduate of the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley. Sabina feels deep appreciation for everything the American Jewish community did to welcome and support Soviet Jewry. To pay that help forward, she is not only a leader of Hebrew Free Loan but also volunteers with other nonprofits, including serving as a board member at Ronald C. Wornick Jewish Day School.
Roman has over 25 years of experience in financial services. He founded Pillar6 Advisors to be a values-based financial planning, advisory, and wealth management firm that provides clients with thoughtful guidance. Roman holds multiple leadership roles with Hebrew Free Loan, serving as chair of both our Business Circle and Business Leadership Community (BLC). He is a Wexner Heritage Fellow and is on advisory committees of the Jewish Federation Bay Area, RootZ, and the Jewish Parents Association (JPA).
